About

My name is Emma Hayes. I am a current senior at Carnegie Mellon University studying Computational and Applied Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science. My mathematical interests lie in applied math in general but specifically differential equations, and I would love to incorporate computer science or machine learning in any projects I do.
I love being able to explore the relationships between math and computer science and work with real life problems and examples. Outside of math I like to bake, hike, and make art.

Research/Projects

Research project collaborating with 3 other colleagues sponsored by AMD to implement physics informed machine learning models. I was also selected as Project Manager for this project.
- Selected among 35 other students from 3000+ applicants to work on NSF funded research projects.
- Presented results to AMD research team and to audiences from NSF and IPAM. Presenting at JMM 24 and NCUWM.
- Utilizing PyTorch as well as AMD's HPC systems to create our models and perform parallel computing tasks.

15-112 Fundamentals of Programming Term Project: Designed an interactive coloring app where the user can create drawings or paint premade coloring pages Implemented in Python with Pillow (PIL) using modules to produce different features and pages, and created an intuitive user interface
